Privacy Policy — SpeakNWin

SpeakNWin helps you practise public speaking. It records you, times you, and analyses your speech so you can review it.

The short version: your recordings stay on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to us, because there is no “us” to upload them to — SpeakNWin has no servers.

What SpeakNWin records

Audio and video recordings. When you start a practice speech, SpeakNWin records audio or video, depending on the mode you choose. These files are stored in the app’s private storage on your device.

Transcripts and measurements. After a speech, you can ask SpeakNWin to transcribe and analyse it. This produces a text transcript, timing and pacing figures, and notes about delivery.

Your notes and settings. Self-ratings, written reflections, goals, custom topics, and the words you ask the app to watch for.

We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, advertising identifiers, device identifiers, or location data. There is no tracking of any kind.

Where it goes

On your device, by default

Recordings, transcripts, measurements, and notes are stored on your iPhone. Transcription runs entirely on the device using Apple’s on-device speech recognition — your audio is not sent anywhere to be transcribed.

Written coaching, when available, is produced by Apple Intelligence running on your device. Nothing leaves the phone for it.

iCloud, if you turn it on

If you enable iCloud backup in Settings, your practice history — transcripts, measurements, coaching, notes, goals — syncs to your own iCloud account so it appears on your other devices and survives losing your phone.

This uses Apple’s CloudKit private database. The data lives in your iCloud account, under your Apple ID, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We cannot see it, and neither can anyone else. Video recordings sync only if you explicitly mark a speech to keep, because video is large. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.

Anthropic, only if you choose it and supply your own key

SpeakNWin can optionally send a speech transcript to Anthropic’s Claude API for more detailed written feedback. This only happens if you create your own Anthropic API key, enter it in Settings, and explicitly tap “Deeper feedback from Claude” on a particular speech.

When you do, the text transcript of that speech and its numerical measurements are sent to Anthropic. Your audio and video are never sent. The request is billed to your own Anthropic account. Anthropic’s handling of that data is governed by their Privacy Policy and Commercial Terms.

Your API key is stored in your device’s Keychain and is never transmitted anywhere except to Anthropic, to authenticate your own requests. If you never add a key, no data ever leaves your device for this purpose.

Your account, if you create one

SpeakNWin works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in with Apple, we store the account identifier Apple provides, your email address — which you may hide, in which case Apple gives us a relay address rather than your real one — your name if you choose to share it, and the date you signed in.

This is used to identify your account and, in future, to manage a subscription. It is not used for marketing, and it is not shared with anyone.

Deleting your account. Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account and every recording on the device, permanently and immediately. You do not need to contact us.

Permissions

  • Microphone — to record your speeches. Requested when you first record.

  • Camera — to record video, if you use video mode. Requested when you first record video.

  • Speech recognition — to transcribe on-device. Requested when you first analyse a speech.

  • Notifications — only if you turn on practice reminders.

Every permission is requested at the moment it is first needed, and the app works without any of them beyond the microphone.

Children

SpeakNWin is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Retention

You control retention. Settings lets you keep recordings indefinitely or delete them automatically after 7, 30, or 90 days. Deleting a session deletes its recording. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a new date, and significant changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
